Hi, all! It's been two months since we opened the bakery, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to answer some of our customer's most frequently asked questions!
As many of you may (or may not) know, we are a 100% dedicated gluten-free bakery -- though chances are, you'd never be able to tell based on the quality and flavor of our products. We've worked diligently over the past several years to perfect our tried and true family recipes in order to create a line of gourmet desserts that are delicious enough for all to enjoy. With that, it's opened the flood gates for a variety of other "dietary" requests ... so, here we go!
Q: Do you offer gluten-free desserts that are also dairy-free?
A: At this time, the only GF/DF product that we carry regularly is our peanut butter cookie. We do offer dairy-free, egg-free and/or vegan cakes and cupcakes by special order only. As we continue to grow, it is our goal to introduce additional GF/DF items for the bakery that will be made available more regularly. Stay tuned ...
Q: Do you offer potato, corn, soy or sugar-free items?
A: No, not at this time. As a reminder - aside from gluten/wheat - we are not an "allergy-friendly" bakery. There is always the chance for cross-contamination to occur, and some of the products we use are produced in facilities that also produce corn, soy, potato, etc.
Q: Are you a nut-free facility?
A: No. While some of our desserts do not contain nuts, there are many different types of nuts used in our kitchen, and there is always the chance for cross-contamination to occur.
Q: Do you offer "paleo" items?
A: No, not at this time.
Q: Do you have bread and/or bread products?
A: Right now we offer our Cheddar & Spring Onion Biscuit, but no other bread products at this time. We've been working on several bread recipes, and as soon as they're perfected, you'll be the first to know!
Q: Do you offer savory food items?
A: Aside from our Cheddar & Spring Onion Biscuit, we do not have any additional savory items at this time. A small offering of savory items COMING SOON!
Q: How much advance notice do you need for a special order or custom cake?
A: We require at least a 1-week advance notice, but we always say the earlier the better! Because we are a small team and handcraft each cake entirely from scratch, we can only fulfill so many orders per day. Larger events and/or wedding cakes require several week's/month's advance notice.
Q: Do you deliver?
A: We only offer delivery services for larger, private events such as weddings or donation events.
Q: Where can I find a menu?
A: Each morning we post Today's Menu, though it's not updated throughout the day. We suggest calling the bakery (630) 797.5350 to see what's in stock! You can also visit our Sample Menu to see the different kinds of products we offer on a seasonal, rotating basis.
Q: Where can I find cake pricing and flavor options?
A: General cake pricing and flavors can be found on our Custom Cakes & Tastings page, but we recommend emailing all inquiries/requests to email@example.com or calling to discuss exactly what you're looking for. This way, we can give you a more accurate price quote and answer any questions you may have!
Q: Do you do wedding cakes and/or sweet tables?
A: Yes! We love working with you to create the perfect wedding cake, cupcakes or sweet table of your dreams. See what some of our past couples have said about us HERE!

Happy Friday, all! We thought we'd kick off our first official blog post on the new website by celebrating one of our most favorite summer ingredients - the blueberry! Every July, we head down to Tammen Treeberry Farm in Wilmington, IL. to do some blueberry picking on their 50-acre piece of land. This year, my mom and sister-in-law, Becca, were able to escape the bakery for an early morning picking and came back with over 10 pounds of fresh blueberries for us to use! Aside from one of Becca's buckets of blueberries being stolen, they thoroughly enjoyed spending a beautiful summer morning together ... while also on a TWS mission to bring home these gems for the bakery!
As many of you may know, we love to feature local and seasonal ingredients whenever possible, so it was a no-brainer to put these guys to use in some of our favorite summer desserts. This week and weekend we've been putting them in anything and everything possible, including our Fresh Blueberry Buttermilk Muffins, a delicious Blueberry-Plum-Nectarine Crisp, as well as our Mini Cheesecake with a Fresh Blueberry Topping. While I wasn't able to make it blueberry picking this year, I'm personally looking forward to foraging locally for blackberries in a few weeks and seeing what new desserts we can incorporate them into. From pies and preserves to buckles and tarts, the options are endless when it comes to fresh berries!
