For those who know us Kritzberg girls, you know how much we love Anthropologie. And when I say love -- I really mean L.O.V.E. Anthropologie is a unique store that's been around since 1992 and offers a curated mix of women's clothing & accessories, gift items, kitchen ware, books, bath products and home decor. Everything is all-around beautiful, inspiring to the soul and appeals to the Euro-meets-boho spirit in all of us. The clothes are almost too pretty to wear, the furniture too luxe to sit on and the dishes are best displayed on a shelf to be longingly gazed after.
So when Anthropologie's marketing coordinator contacted the bakery - personally inviting us to participate in one of their store's first Pop-Up Artisan Markets - you can imagine the scream of excitement that came from the back office here at the bakery. It didn't matter that it was a Saturday, or that we had a ton of special orders lined up, or that I was leaving for San Francisco the same day -- we were going to make it work one way or the other.
And so we stayed up all night baking our little hearts out and gathering fun decorative items to make our table as "Anthro-esque" as possible: Linens and pedestals, chalkboard signs and bakers' twine, fresh wildflowers from Mom's garden and a little handmade menu. After an hour in the car of white-knuckling bins of cupcakes, we finally arrived at Deer Park's Anthropologie and began setting up our mini bakery.
The market was from noon-4pm, and before we could even finish putting everything out, the guests were lining up in front of us! After a few minutes of scrambling, we got ourselves situated and were open for business. Within the first hour, we nearly sold out of our infamous coconut macaroons and cupcakes. Really, though, who could resist flavors like vanilla-chai, chocolate-peanut butter and raspberry rose?
We left the event with a teeny tiny box of about 10 items, so needless to say, the event was a success! We made some new friends and spread the TWS love into a new territory; hopefully some of our new fans will make the trip to the bakery.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, and especially to Anthropologie for including us in the event! It was definitely a whirlwind kinda day but it all worked out ... and we even made our flight to San Francisco on time ;)
